Had the misfortune of being in the room while a friend's little brother watched this. What happened to children's TV shows?

I'll admit, I really liked these guys growing up. Maybe something about taking characters from my hometown adds something, but going through the series again and I still get some chuckles here and there. The music (while corny) is harmless and even has a song or two I don't mind revisiting. I know a lot of people will be harsh on the writing, but the guys make it work better than I realized when I was young. This will always hold a spot in my heart, and I'm not ashamed to say that.
