Gatsu is a walking boner of homoerotic rage and repression and Griffith is the apotheosis of yes m'lady fedora fandom so right off the bat this series' dialogue is extremely hard to put up with. Casca, the only real female character, endures multiple rape attempts and later becomes a vessel for our protagonists to channel their repressed sexuality through. All of this is very unfortunate, because the fantasy aesthetic is immersive, the music is beautiful, and the ending is amusingly vicious.

Seen many years ago in high school. Don't remember anything apart from that it was from the "cool" animes.

i see why some said it was like GoT, i dont expect another medieval anime to be closer. mainly from the brotherhood and destiny stuff. sometimes felt like a dope rpg. that beginning, and then a bunch more highs, into a fuckin crazy ending that luckily the new movie fixed lol. there was some meh stuff though, and they def dont end satisfying enough, like the time jump right away. and even the fuckin crazy ending is too abrupt as it gets going. loved the music,

I'm reading the manga right now and it's far superior. The anime has aged a lot, but the manga is like a fine wine. Especially from the arts perspective, the details, the landscapes and the sheer craziness of Miura's art is breathtaking. This anime is a good gateway to get to know what Berserk is about, but seriously read the manga.

An excellent adaptation of the best arc of the manga. The manga's original art is on a league of its own, but as far as story goes this anime covers the only parts of it that (in my opinion) are actually good.

Some moments are very memorable, but sadly it is ~10 episodes too long; focusing on an unlikeable side character was a big mistake. But the philosophical dialogues between the two main characters are fantastic and if you watch a second time, you will see a clear predestination. -- The final episodes are incredible.

best soundtrack in an anime ever and fantastic atmosphere compensate for the occasional poor scene

One of my all time favorite series, I absolutely loved everything about it. The protagonists, the atmosphere and the amazing action. As far as I'm concerned, this is the high standard when it comes to anime. On the other end though, I feel like the manga has been dragging on for longer than it should of been and it also adds some odd Japanese-y characters like Puck. I'd still recommend the manga, but after some point you come to see that later volumes are flawed. great series regardless.

Occasionally terrible dialogue and eye-rolling machoness aside, this is a pretty brilliant evocation of classical heroic texts. It's got a proper katabasis and everything.

Excellent show, but I was searching for the new OVA. I guess criticker's adding full anime series now?
