There's a fine line between putting a fresh spin on a classic and distorting it beyond all recognition. This unpleasant, cynical, and grimdark reworking of Dickens' classic is on the wrong side of that line.

Bah Fuckbug!...Fuck Humbug!...Bah Humfuck!, or maybe just Fuck Fuckfuck! An aberration so appalling I wished that one of the ghosts would have been that of Charles Dickens going all Terminator on the cast & crew. I can just imagine many families around the world having this on in the background of their holiday festivities when the first F-bomb is dropped.

[Spoiler] There was no catharsis. The end was very weak and ruined the movie for me.

Holy Shit did this mini-series piss me off. It starts off good but then completes trashes the whole point of the actual story and made most of the characters unlikable. This was a complete disappointment for me.

Some good original takes on events but filled with modern virtue signalling that makes the tale unbelievable in its intended epoch.

The actor who plays Scrooge saves the show. We want to know how such a cold person will end up good. There are some good ideas for the effects of the different ghostly appearances, and I like the "realistic" take of the story. I didn't understand the casting of Cratchit's wife, she alone makes the show far worse than it could be. Moreover, the character in itself is difficult to like, we have no empathy towards her. Also, the ending feels rushed, but I still liked the show as a whole.

It seemed more anti capitalist than the just anti greed message of most of the other versions out there. It was also interesting that they included a discussion of pedophilia in boarding schools
