A Christmas Carol

I hesitate to call this "bad." It certainly does not capture the magic of A Christmas Carol, however - apart from this one song, "God Bless Us Everyone," that is utterly magical both times it's sung. Could be because I'm such a huge Ruthie Henshall fan, and she plays his mother.

Another Christmas movie I feel gets an unfair deal. At least the musical elements put a slightly fresher spin on the well-worn formula (and they're real earworms, too.) Ultimately unexciting, of course, but I do like the songs and Kelsey Grammer's performance.

Has a surprisingly well known cast, but even so it feels a bit like watching your local theatre company perform, except someone has given some an expensive set to play on and a camera! It really isn't very good, and the songs are terrible. Not even my fondness for this particular Dickens tale can save this shocker.

The muppets did it better.
