Bio: I played World of Warcraft nonstop for about 5 years. I missed out on tons of culture during that period. Now I'm playing catch up, and I have a few friends helping me.
I'm well and truly sorry if my reviews go off on tangents and seem to ramble. I'm trying to get better at this sort of thing.

"Pulp Fiction is a movie that chronicles a couple days in the life of some gangland criminals and small-time thugs. Told over the course of 3 main chapters, the intersecting plots and punchy conversations are what the film is known for. Watching these characters just shoot the shit in between the major scenes is as fascinating and fun as those scenes themselves. It's such a joy to watch."

"Man this guy gets a lot of tail... and with voluptuous buns like those, who am I to judge his character? Anyway, this film explores the inner workings of the CIA in the 70's from the point of view of a gameshow host who lived during that time and basically lived out this other life as part of his cover. Sort of. We understand from the getgo that Chuck Barris is kind of a sleezy asshole; the adaptation is shaped in such a way where we could forever be on the fence about the truth of it all."

89 54% | Chocolate (2008) - Rated 24 Mar 2011
"This is such a weird film. I really enjoyed it; there were good martial arts scenes (some botchamania looks to have made it in, ouch!), a unique story that makes you go WTF, and overall a good sense of character growth and development. Even though the lead is autistic, it handles the condition in an intriguing way that isn't condescending at all. Actually, it probably might give you an idea to raise some kind of army for yourself. This was fun."

"A whimsical adventure that I think is a perfect melting pot of adventure, discovery, and danger. It's good for your kids!"

"I couldn't get into this movie, it just wasn't my thing I guess. Either that or I just couldn't give a shit about what these characters were going through. I mean, they apparently like to kill people? Why are they listening to that 3rd asshole? Seriously, fuck that guy. He's bringing you down. Anyway, I just didn't think this was that interesting. It was just dudes going around killing other dudes because the other dudes are dicks. or something."

93 65% | Smokin' Aces (2007) - Rated 24 Mar 2011
"Smokin' Aces brings nothing special to the ensemble movie genre. In fact, unless you suspend your belief pretty much completely, you will probably decide that this one is dull. However, that won't stop me from lifting all pretenses and saying "fuck you, I like this movie." It's a thrill ride that is easy to get absorbed in, and sometimes that's all a movie needs to do. Also, damn that Alicia Keys is fine."

83 34% | Sunshine (2007) - Rated 24 Mar 2011
"This film provides a good example of how the smallest mistake can fuck up an entire program in an instant. It also seems to be paying homage to famous sci-fi films of yesteryear in its own unique way. Pretty solid, if not slightly derivative."

58 3% | Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001) - Rated 24 Mar 2011
"This movie was a stilted, disjointed mess. I'm surprised I started caring for anyone at all. It really could've benefited from a tightened up screenplay--the Phantoms are some of the most menacing villains ever and they just seem held back by a long shot. Moar focus on those! And even though it derives a its theme liberally from FF7 I can appreciate its attempts to stand on its own. They just shouldn't have spent so much time on Aki's hair. This really could've been something special."

"Who thinks that a movie about English political backstabbing could be exciting? Sit down. It isn't."

97 98% | Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) - Rated 22 Mar 2011
"Memories are important things to have. They define us in ways far beyond just remembering things. This movie basically explores what happens to people if their memories of each other, both good and bad, are voluntarily taken away. It even goes one further and analyzes how someone could use those memories for nefarious purposes (the tit). Solid performance, solid story, unforgettable premise."
