I don't understand why this movie didn't do well at the box office -- probably it has more to do with the overall economy (and perhaps some political comments by those responsible for the film) than with its quality. Some good acting with nice comic touches, a cheesy, overdone finale, and a deus ex machina. Oh, and great special effects. Did anyone say "space opera"?

Who doesn't like a good alien invasion movie? Yes, it's overdone in some ways, but still a good movie to watch.

Terrific, faithful adaptation of Orson Scott Card's award-winning novel. More, please!

Vivid and pulse-pounding, well acted, but with a bit of a puzzling ending.

Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) - Rated 26 Jul 2016

Good stuff -- a bit of a retreat of Episode 4, plot wise, but a very welcome return to classic sci fi after the lamentable, forgettable prequels.

Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope (1977) - Rated 26 Jul 2016

The original -- and in my view still the best of the series. (The less said about the prequels the better.)

Interstellar (2014) - Rated 26 Jul 2016

A science fiction movie with a profound human relationship between a father and daughter at its heart.
