"feels gross to watch. filled with disney references that don't end up being actual jokes on their own, songs and lyrics with no flow to them (i remember the melody of none of them), and it's. just. not funny. very tone-deaf in its "let the people chase their own desires" plot while being one of the richest companies on earth that quashes creativity in the name of sequels, remakes, "look what we used to make"s, and money above all else."

"this movie does great with its family-centric emotional beats, its humour is alright and the music is decently catchy. it excels at visuals, which i admit i have a lot of nostalgia for, but for good reason. the themes and message are very disney so no creativity points there, but it is really nice to see polynesian culture celebrated like this. very good feel-good movie. still disney but eh."

"generic? clumsy writing makes the character beats and the twists predictable, or even scoff-inducing. the challenge to stretch the movie out in such a compact space is certainly overcome, though that is the main thing going for it. its gore effects are decent, but it's clear they want to focus on it but don't have the budget to really bring it out :( don't bother unless your goal is to watch shitty horror movies. not even any yuri smh"

"not the scariest horror movie, but definitely one of my absolute FAVOURITES. it has an internal story that repeats multiple times over, in ways you might only realise on a rewatch, which i love doing because its characters have a realism and sense of humour that hooks me in. great movie. highly recommend to horror fans and non-horror fans"

"i like the creatures a lot. never takes itself too seriously, it's a very good movie to watch while getting drunk with friends. or sober. or alone. all great times"

"Similarly cool animation to the previous movie, with a lot of play with artstyles and techniques that all come together and clash in a way that I love. Plenty of fun jokes throughout, including a lot of pokes and nods to obscure comic trivia that I didn't catch but sure heard a lot about later. The midsection of the movie is great, but I found it hard to enjoy the plot as it got closer to the end; maybe when the next movie comes out, it will be a lot less anticlimactic as a dual watch."

"Revolutionary animation, a charming story, and worth checking out if Marvel usually leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Nothing revolutionary in its themes or politics, just a pretty fun watch."

"A somehow very good representation of how it feels to have unmedicated ADHD, despite being a universe-jumping movie (one of the few REALLY good ones) that investigates the battle of compassion in nihilism amongst a chaotic, meaningless world. Highly recommend, don't worry too much about spoilers; you won't be able to figure out what they mean until you watch it anyway."
