"Makes a good effort to show flawed characters across class divide, but fails to feel authentic enough to become something great. As a result some character arcs may seem sloppy rather than profound. Takes a small bite out of many topics, but does not go deep into any of them. The wait for the series to dig deeper into any of the topics it raised bothered me more that the usual cliffhangers. Nonetheless, entertaining as a people watching soap."

"After the sugar rush of the first impressions has subsided, I am left mostly with a memory of excessive preaching. A couple of touching moments make me not regret seeing it, but it is not going to be on my recommendations lists. Beautiful moments of Barbie learning to cry that reminded me of the understated magic Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach were able to create in their other works, but it was clearly not the style that matched well with the short attention span of this move."
