85 53% The Terminator (1984) - Rated 21 Sep 2008
"Still badass. I can't believe it, but this movie is still badass. The special effects are dated, the styles and soundtrack wreak of the eighties, yet somehow just the concept alone keeps me glued to my seat when I pop this old classic in. It's not Judgment Day (T2), but its what started it all and damn if it isn't fun."
89 71% Fight Club (1999) - Rated 21 Sep 2008
"Both trippy and thought provoking, Fight Club always shows me something new in the folds of its cynical, embittered frame. Still the best of all great nihilistic cinema. I challenge you to find the moral of the story. Great, dirty, miserable fun."
85 53% Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl (2003) - Rated 21 Sep 2008
"The first and only truly decent pirate movie out of the three Pirates of the Caribbean movies. This film was more swashbuckling and high seas adventure and less ocean-based fantasy, which is all I really wanted from it. The characters are likeable (with the exception of Orlando Bloom, whom I just never like in anything) and the plot was solid. While the sequels may have disappointed me, this one will always have a special place in my heart."
95 92% Stardust (2007) - Rated 23 Sep 2007
"Based on the works of one of the most profoundly tallented writers of our time, Neil Gaiman, this faithful adaptation is a refreshingly origonal fantasy romp in the grand tradition of movies like The Princess Bride. Critics will snidely tell you that this movie tries in vain to actually be Princess Bride and utterly fails in that, but then again critics also panned Wizard of Oz as being unimaginative when it first came out..."
80 29% Good Luck Chuck (2007) - Rated 23 Sep 2007
"Horrendously vulgar, but surprisingly sweet Good Luck Chuck is, if nothing else, worth seeing once just to decide if it's for you."

85 53% Star Wars: Episode VI - Return of the Jedi (1983) - Rated 31 Jan 2007
"I have mixed feelings about Return of the Jedi. I loved Luke's new badass, "I'm a Jedi, bitch, what are you gunna do about it?" attitude he sports while facing down Jabba and his gang. However, I felt that the battle with the Emporer was not nearly as spectacular as what I was hoping for. By comparison, the showdown with Vader on Bispin at the end of the last movie was far, far, far more spectacular. In the end, its revealed that Vader is just a mutilated old man under it all (ok, I can"
95 92% Star Wars: Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back (1980) - Rated 31 Jan 2007
"Still the best Star Wars movie ever. It has everything. A dramatic showdown between the Rebelion and the Empire on Hoth, which finally drove home the point for me the first time I watched it way back when that, yes, this really is a WAR. It has a more genuine feeling Jedi training and ends with a truly epic battle between Luke and Darth Vader. Two things make this movie for me: 1)the good guys don't win just because they're the good guys. In fact, they spend most of the movie getting thei"
80 29% X-Men (2000) - Rated 31 Jan 2007
"One of my favorite comic teams is brought to life...took them long enough! My feelings about this film are mixed. I love Hugh Jackman's wolverine. He's given a lot of space to do his thing and he does it well. He never quite reaches that plateau of "Frenzied bezerker rage" like I'd like him to, but hey what're ya gunna do, right? That's hard to mannage. Patrick Stewart as Xavier has pretty much been my and everyone else's prediction since the dawn of time and it was such an excelen"
84 46% Sin City (2005) - Rated 31 Jan 2007
"Finally, a comicbook movie that doesn't suck! Not only does Sin City follow the comic it is based upon, but every frame oozes that same sleek noir sex. Its a gorgeous film with some great action sequences and a few really memorable moments. Mostly these are found in the Marv section of the film. I can't imagine a better fit for Marv than Mickey Rourke. Some of the elements were a little silly in a way I didn't care too much for, but overall I vastly enjoyed this film. The only way I cou"
