39 15% Slender Man (2018) - Rated 14 Nov 2018
"The dialogues aren't really convincing, the cast isn't either. The plot... well, it could've been more convincing if anything was explained, or shown. A horror buff won't find anything interesting in this film as every little thing is recycled here."
11 3% Uzumaki (2000) - Rated 14 Nov 2018
"This was an utter and total misunderstanding. The manga is really intriguing, scary, disgusting and dark, yet this... thing cannot even be compared to it. It's boring, half of the plot wasn't even shown, as well as the explanation behind the events. There was no meaning behind the film whatsoever. A complete waste of time, actually fell asleep while watching it. The most scary scene was a scene shown as a background for credits, only because it looked like the one from manga. Meh."
95 93% King's Game (2011) - Rated 14 Nov 2018
"This horror lived up to my expectations - it had a classical Ousama game included, but yet it still managed to be entertaining. A mixture of typical japanese horror story with a slight psychological touch - I like it a lot, especially the not-so-obvious ending."
82 78% Star Wars: Episode VIII - The Last Jedi (2017) - Rated 01 Jan 2018
"I saw this part 6 hours after watching the previous one for the first time, so I still remember what happened before. This movie focuses on the WAR for a change and has its surprises which is a good thing, but it has its downsides, too. There were too many repetitions, there were also moments that felt like a pure fanservice (depressed Luke joking? Really?). The cool idea of the Abyss was never extended. This part is definitely better than the previous one, but it has many unused opportunities."
80 74% Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens (2015) - Rated 31 Dec 2017
"Somehow, I have the feeling it's not really a smart movie. I expected lots of politics, I got lots of fights. I expected something difficult to understand and related to the past parts in a complicated way but it's for newbies. Of course, not being a teen anymore may influence my judgement. The fact that I had to remind myself of the past parts by reading about them instead of watching may be the case, too. All in all, the heroine is surprisingly likeable, but it's definitely not what I expected."
80 74% A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965) - Rated 27 Dec 2017
"A heartwarming Christmas story. Who would have thought that the commercialisation was present in the '60s! The message of the short is absolutely up-to-date. Even though it's aimed for kids and has its cringe moments, I'd still show it to people who can't appreciate the Christmas spirit and joy. On the side note, it's funny to see credits which aren't written with capital letters - almost 50 years before it was cool."
83 80% Cat Soup (2001) - Rated 05 Dec 2013
"Well... First of all, this animation can be understood in many different ways, so it's hard to summarise. Most of the movie looks like someone's dream - it's very cool, but doesn't make any sense at the first glimpse. I'm not much a cat lover but I guess heroes can be considered cute by some people. I especially liked gore scenes because they were untypical. Also, frozen time landscapes were cool. It's worth watching, but definitely not something for kids. It's a pity the author commited suicide."
33 12% Marcel the Shell with Shoes On (2010) - Rated 05 Dec 2013
"I don't know why everyone thinks this movie is so good. It's just mildly funny - ok, Marcel may be cute at the beginning, but he gets irritating at the end. These kinds of things can be said by normal children and the script doesn't really need to be animated. I guess Marcel IS kind of cute and his googly eye is indeed funny, but - oh, come on, just go and have your own child instead of watching it. It will be similar and actually probably better than this short."
72 57% The Shining (1980) - Rated 05 Dec 2013
"Having heard how awesome this movie is I'm slightly disappointed. It's true the ending is intense, but the first hour or so is boring at times. Also, I know the female is supposed to act as a victim of the domestic violence, but she's just so effin' stupid. Blood flowing scene is ridiculous and reminds me of "period.gif" which some of you may be familiar with. The paranormal topics were to my liking the most, especially the whole "shining" process. Fortunately, the plot & ending didn't disappoint."
62 43% The Thing from Another World (1951) - Rated 05 Dec 2013
"It lacked suspension and the feelings of fear, surprise or catastrophy - all heroes acted as they are dealing with aliens on their daily basis. Most of humoristic scenes were not really funny. Also, the action is fast regarding the age of the movie and too fast to be believable. The movie made the scientist a bad guy and the imbecile captain a hero... I really think "the plant" was smarter, but not than humanity in general but from heroes. Extra points for a "bondage scene" - my favourite part."
