What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1991) - Rated 27 Mar 2011
The first question most filmgoers will ask is: "Who needs a remake of the *classic* cult film that starred Bette Davis and Joan Crawford?" There's only one reason why this was remade and that is to topline real-life sisters, Vanessa and Lynn, as the former movie stars. Lynn has the flashier role. Vanessa manages to keep the story from becoming a totally Grand Guignol horror show. There's life in the old Guignol yet!

Apocalypse Now (1979) - Rated 26 Mar 2011
Intended to be the definitive film epic about war in general, and the hell of the Vietnam War in particular, this flawed masterpiece does have some of the most remarkable scenes ever photographed, especially a helicopter attack on a Vietcong village with a soundtrack blaring Wagner's "Ride of the Valkyries."

Katzelmacher (1969) - Rated 26 Mar 2011
Based on his own play, Fassbinder's second film is a powerful, sensitive study of ignorance and prejudice.

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! (1988) - Rated 26 Mar 2011
The creators of _Airplane!_ are back in form with this gagfest. As many bad jokes as good ones, but they come flying so fast you'll scarcely notice.

Ghost Dad (1990) - Rated 26 Mar 2011
Pretty poor ghost-spoof does provide some humor and charm in the person of Cosby. Special effects are fine, but the constant mugging wears thin.

The Toy (1982) - Rated 26 Mar 2011
Asinine remake of the charming French film. Even Pryor playing a man besieged by debts can't save this slapstick mess.

Critters (1986) - Rated 26 Mar 2011
A _Gremlins_ rip-off, but a fairly funny one at that.
