"Dark, brooding, brilliant!"
70 31% Spider-Man (2002) - Rated 12 Jan 2013
"This is the original Sam Raimi/Tobey Maguire movie, and it's still lots of fun. It suffered because of its release post-9/11, with a whole sequence removed and hastily replaced with a bizarre green-screened street carnival sequence (with Sony pop-star Macy Gray for quick bang-for-buck). Aside from this one glaring hiccup, it's still a great superhero movie, and as fun as a Spiderman film should be!"
80 70% Adaptation. (2002) - Rated 12 Jan 2013
"I absolutely adored this movie when I watched it at the cinema. I haven't seen it since, but watching Charlie Kaufman struggle to adapt THE ORCHID THIEF is a wonderful experience. Some people didn't like the ending, but it brilliantly illustrated the whole point of the movie. (Personally I was so engrossed in what came before it, that I feel he needed to go down that path, but it still worked for me.) Amazing movie!"

"I have a soft-spot for Joss Whedon and Firefly, but I still say this is a wonderfully original sci-fi movie. It does have some problems, but the good far outweighs the bad. See it!"
80 70% One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) - Rated 12 Jan 2013
"Doesn't do justice to the book, but it's still a fantastic movie."
70 31% Avatar (2009) - Rated 12 Jan 2013
"James Cameron is back! How you feel about AVATAR will entirely depend on how you feel about his movies: Great action, thin characters, poor dialogue. It's James Cameron! This is one of his better movies, though, and does a great job selling a very easy to ridicule concept. Not perfect, but still very enjoyable. (I imagine the Extended Cut might improve things, too, but I haven't had a chance to see it yet.)"
