Bio: Gex X NY'er. Not a film snob (as you can see from my ratings), don't adhere to auteur theory, feel screenwriters get the short shrift, and believe a shitty story is still gonna suck regardless of the director, while even the worst directors can't totally screw up a great story.
I think the algorithm here relies too much on liked titles vs. ratings for mediocre or poor. As there is very little in the world that is perfect, and heeding the credo '90% of everything is crap', I don't give out perfect scores unless I've on rewatched something more than 3 times and come away feeling I haven't wasted my time. Now that my kids are old enough to watch whatever they want, I try to avoid films based on comic books and animated features.
