"What an amazing movie about memory, love and the human mind. Everyone in it is awesome. Jim Carrey probably gives his best performance and Kate Winslet somehow manages to come off as cute and charming even though her character is a train-wreck of dysfunction. As good as the acting was, the real star of the film is the writing and direction. Michel Gondry's beautiful, arty style is a perfect match for Charlie Kaufman's insanity/brilliance. Wonderful movie and I can't say a bad thing about it."

90 83% | Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (2010) - Rated 13 Aug 2010
"This movie is crazy. It has it's own high energy language of storytelling that is a little off-putting at first. But once you get used to it, it's just awesome and hysterical. The cast are all awesome with special points to Kieran Culkin and Ellen Wong. And Edgar Wright does an incredible balancing act of charm, coolness, romance, comedy, action and just sheer insanity. It's such a fun movie to watch and it's also way deeper and more meaningful than it has any right to be. Well done, sir."

83 66% | The Other Guys (2010) - Rated 13 Aug 2010
"This movie was way funnier than I expected it to be. I knew that it would have funny parts because Will Ferrell and Adam Mckay are good enough to get some things right at the very least. But I didn't love Step Brothers and the trailers for this weren't exactly great. But the trailers just failed to show how good this movie is. It's hilarious in a silly and ridiculous way but it is never annoyingly silly or ridiculous. It's just fun and awesome."

"The fact that my anticipation and expectations for this film were through the roof and I still loved it says a lot. Going in, I was absolutely certain that it couldn't live up to what I thought it would be. And yet somehow I am just blown away. There was a ten minute stretch of this film where my jaw was dropped the whole time. I have read a few reviews with a few one word descriptions and the best would have to be "miracle". It is a miracle that this film exists. I can't wait to see it again."

97 95% | Memento (2001) - Rated 16 Jul 2010
"Truly astonishing!! How perfect can one movie be. The only negative thing that I can possibly say about it is that it is somewhat depressing and almost entirely devoid of comedy. But it wasn't trying to be funny and it's depressing in a really interesting way. It's incredible that a movie that was made after so many great film-noir's can manage to be completely fresh. It uses what should be a stupid gimmick but it ends up not being a gimmick at all and is completely necessary. Wow. Just wow."

"Really good movie. Extremely low budget with some bad acting but nothing too terrible. But where it really shines is the story, writing, directing and structure. The film is told out of order but with an easy to follow structure that feels right. Like some other Nolan films, it is structured like a puzzle or a magic trick and it succeeds in keeping you entertained but guessing right up to the end. Excellent debut by a brilliant writer/director."

71 43% | The Book of Eli (2010) - Rated 08 Jul 2010
"I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would. Good action and an interesting plot. Plus Mila Kunis is smokin' hot. A few really annoying things kept it from being a great film though. Gary Oldman shoots Eli once in the stomach then they just leave him. If someone caused me that much trouble I would make damn sure that he was dead before I left. Also, I kind of think it's stupid that he's blind. It was an unnecessary twist. I could buy it if he wasn't 100% blind. Anyway, good not great."

"It was very well shot and it was fairly entertaining. However, politically it really bothered me. It had one idea and it just hammered it into the audience's head over and over again. WMD's were a lie. Over and over. Kind of annoying. But otherwise pretty good."

74 51% | She's Out of My League (2010) - Rated 06 Jul 2010
"Way better than I expected. Very funny and cute. The ending is a lot far fetched but still funny and entertaining. Aside from a few scenes of unbearable awkwardness that I had to skim through, I really liked this movie. Not necessarily a great movie but for me it was way above average for a romantic comedy. I have always been a fan of Jay Baruchel and this only helps things."

77 56% | The Long Goodbye (1973) - Rated 06 Jul 2010
"Pretty good 70's noir. It's weird seeing Elliot Gould in a leading role at that age. My first exposure to him was as Ross and Monica's dad from Friends and then from the Ocean's movies. So it's weird seeing him as the star of a film. He was excellent but it was weird. He was constantly whispering jokes to himself in that weird voice of his, it was strange but in a good way. Anyway, it was well shot and acted throughout and it had a great ending."
