"Mesmerizing. I remember when it first came to a small cinema in Toronto (the Carlton) and I went alone to see this movie I knew absolutely nothing about. I left literally changed - I had no idea that an animated film could tell such a story and in a way I’d never seen. Years and years (and years) later I still love it. Definitely more mature than Ponyo or Totoro but not Monoke or Porco Roso level"
