"rewatched this yesterday and forgot how well shot it is, those close-ups and low angles are reminiscent of Terence Malick storywise, it definitely led me wanting more, some intriguing stuff doesn't really lead anywhere but a pretty enticing sophomore effort from Edwards"

"sometimes we pretend me want to talk business when really we just want someone to buy us breakfast cute little flick, kinda like an early 80s nyc timecapsule the feelies rule"
75 40% Tenet (2020) - Rated 24 Nov 2023
"people allowing themselves to get frustrated and confused by the many plot contrivances here are missing out on the sheer joy of watching characters talking and moving backwards - spent a lot of the film stifling laughter. nolan's most nolan film"
74 30% The Souvenir (2019) - Rated 03 Nov 2023
"pleasantly surprised by this one. not just a simple story of a young burgeoning film student trying to find her feet in the big wide world but also of upper class society and the unique relationships found within. gotta laugh at ayoade's appearance in this which feels kind of out of place, although admittedly it feels like the stand out scene here"
78 51% Room 237 (2012) - Rated 03 Nov 2023
"whomst is the real horror? is it jack torrance, battling personal demons in the sprawling overlook, willing himself to kill his family, or is it us, questioning every vital clue in kubrick's film and drawing heavy allusions from the most minor details? oh yes it's the crazy guy chasing his son with an axe"
83 71% The Holy Mountain (1973) - Rated 27 Oct 2023
"I'm sure one could get really academic about this film, so many running themes and deeply symbolic imagery. Religion, Eastern Mysticism/Mythology and Sexuality et al, but who needs that when you're watching someone wielding a Buddha Pistol or throwing a disfigured midget out of a ship? This says so much about society"
93 96% The Eight Mountains (2022) - Rated 18 Oct 2023
"undoubtedly one of the standout European films of the last few years. maybe tries a little too hard to hit you over the head with poignancy at times but is a beautifully bittersweet portrayal of male friendship and the visuals are obviously stunning"
82 67% Love Liza (2002) - Rated 18 Oct 2023
"recommended viewing for RC Racing enthusiasts and grieving widows... also how cool is a movie if it has both Phil Hoffman and a Jim Rourke soundtrack?"
74 30% The Humans (2021) - Rated 18 Oct 2023
"the tension of a family holiday dinner, the claustrophobia of apartment living in nyc, mental health shit, dementia and loads of unsettling machanical sounds contributed to it being more of a horror film than i anticipated. richard jenkins being one of those faces i've kept noticing seeing since watching the dahmer series and he's incredible again here"
86 80% Billy Liar (1963) - Rated 09 Oct 2023
"on the surface you expect a typically british 60's piece of social realism focused on the mundanity of working class life, but this carries more charm and wit - billy's escapism isn't through drinking or fights but his imagination. the julie christie romance probably needed more screentime to carry the weight it was trying to get but not a major quibble"
