75 60% | X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014) - Rated 26 Sep 2014
"The great cast and exciting action almost make up for the rather silly plot and the gaping plot holes. Almost. It's still among the better superhero flicks."

68 31% | How to Train Your Dragon (2010) - Rated 26 Sep 2014
"The best I can say about this is that it's a competently made piece of film-making. That said, I found the whole experience to be extremely underwhelming. The dragon designs were particularly uninspired. For some reason I was expecting so much more from this than what if offered."

70 37% | Maleficent (2014) - Rated 23 Sep 2014
"Stories have been retold, rewritten and reimagined at practically every turn in human history, so the fact Maleficent takes a popular children's story and turns it on its head isn't a flaw in itself. The real problem is the film combines mature themes and Angelina Jolie's powerful, intensely sensual performance with too many other elements that don't go above the level you might expect from something aimed at small children. Still, in the end, I do admit that I enjoyed it quite a bit."

74 55% | Frozen (2013) - Rated 23 Sep 2014
"The story isn't exactly what one might call original, but it makes up for it, at least for the most part, with beautiful imagery and nicely choreographed scenes.
While "Let It Go" easily ranks among the better songs to come out of animated musicals, the rest of the music was rather uninspired. All in all, Frozen may not the best to come out of Disney, but it's still an enjoyable, charming piece of film-making. And I know kids love it."

72 46% | Edge of Tomorrow (2014) - Rated 18 Sep 2014
"If you put Starship Troopers and Groundhog Day in a blender, you get Edge of Tomorrow. Since I love both, I had a blast with this. Though I'll make no claim that this is a great film, it's really-really fun."
|
42 5% | Transformers: Age of Extinction (2014) - Rated 18 Sep 2014
"Optimus Prime rides around Hong Kong on a giant mechanical dinosaur, while Michael Bay gives a full-on blowjob to the central Chinese government. Mindless action meets ruthless cynicism, resulting in a film that's even worse than the second one."

71 42% | Chef (2014) - Rated 09 Sep 2014
"A film that has no real low points, but doesn't really have any high points either. It's well made and enjoyable, but also utterly forgettable."
|
60 15% | 300: Rise of an Empire (2014) - Rated 07 Sep 2014
"This is a sequel to a film that didn't need a sequel. It tries to emulate the first film, but is its inferior in pretty much every conceivable way. It's not memorable, perhaps except for Eva Green's titillating performance (pun intended), and it's bereft of any charisma."

65 23% | A Million Ways to Die in the West (2014) - Rated 07 Sep 2014
"A couple of painfully forced cameos and the toilet humour really bring the film down. Also, Seth McFarlane isn't much of a live-action actor. He should stick to voice acting. At least Charlize Theron still looks stunning..."

72 46% | Without a Clue (1988) - Rated 07 Sep 2014
"A competent, even if not specatacular, comedy that will keep you entertained."
