82 15% A Cure for Wellness (2017) - Rated 13 Oct 2024
"I like this movie. I think it's well done and slightly creepy. I love the concept and think it's portrayed well. The acting isn't horrible but not great. The end starts to get a little messy but it's not the worst. It's an enjoyable watch."
74 5% The Substance (2024) - Rated 13 Oct 2024
"Acts 1 and 2 are fantastic. The shots are beautiful and I think it gets the point across well. I think the acting is outstanding. I also really liked the concept. it was all going so well til act 3. This film turns into a real disappointment and gets real sloppy. The final act is so bad that it really gets hurt in the overall rating. I really was cheering it on the whole time and wanted to like it so much, but the end is just not good."
92 25% Rabbits (2002) - Rated 13 Oct 2024
"Taking Rabbits for what it is, a Lynch short film, I found it quite good. It's very poetic and a tad satanic which is not usually my style of horror. However, Rabbits does it in a way that makes it surprisingly creepy. The dialogue is humorously awkward and the sitcom laugh is priceless. What makes Rabbits even better though is when you link it to Inland empire. The lore and connection between the two adds a lot to the story and there's a lot of theories that are fun to play around with."
95 55% Inception (2010) - Rated 13 Oct 2024
"Inception was the first movie I saw that made me realize how good movies can truly be. It was the film that got me into cinema as much as I am today. The layering is so well crafted and the filming is so beautiful. The score is amazing and the movie is just flat out fun to watch. I love the concept and I think Nolan does a great job building the characters in only 2.5 hours. It also doesn't tear itself a part being as complex as it is. Fantastic film!"
97 65% Mulholland Drive (2001) - Rated 13 Oct 2024
"Another of Lynch's masterpieces. A fun ride that is lynchian yet digestible. A film that takes surrealism to the next level but stays enjoyable to the average viewer. It can be watched and enjoyed or put under a microscope and talked about for hours. I do think Inland empire is lynch's best movie but on a larger scale, Mulholland Drive targets a larger audience and I like that about it. It's a great film that also acts as a great starting point when entering the world of Lynch."
98 80% Requiem for a Dream (2000) - Rated 13 Oct 2024
"A beautifully horrific/horrifically beautiful masterpiece. This film spirals the viewer down the rabbit hole that is addiction so well. It stays true to the novel for the most part but adds flavor to the visual representation which I enjoyed more than the book. I think the added themes help tell the story better. It does a great job making you uncomfortable and Its score is also amongst the best which adds to the experience. this is Aronofsky at his best!"
99 95% Inland Empire (2006) - Rated 12 Oct 2024
"This film is the closest thing to "perfect" I've ever seen across all mediums. The viewing experience upon first watch is unlike anything else. This is THE David Lynch experience and it delivers on all fronts. Inland Empire is top notch cinema at its finest. It is unbelievably genius and so beautifully done. I don't know if anything will ever touch it."
