5% Asmodexia (2014) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
"Messy, scare-free, and for lack of a better word, just downright lame"
99 90% Blue Is the Warmest Color (2013) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
"In spite of the directors self-indulgence, especially when it comes to the extended sex scenes (which got it an NC17 rating.) Blue is a modern classic, so raw, powerful, and nearly perfect in every way. Lea Seydoux is striking in her role, but it's Adele E. who gives a tour-de-force of acting. Ultimately, Blue is the Warmest Color is essential cinema, but only for the most open minded of viewers. Just flat out magical."
99 90% Stranger by the Lake (2013) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
"Sexy, sensual, and quietly suspenseful. Yes, the sex is indeed explicit, but it takes the back seat to the story at hand. Gorgeously filmed and almost hypnotic. Stranger By The Lake is a near masterpiece of gay cinema. For adults only."
18 15% Deliver Us from Evil (2014) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
"Director Scott Derrickson has proven himself as a solid director of horror. From the underrated Emily Rose to the truly unsettling Sinister, Unfortunately Deliver Us From Evil fails is shockingly lacking in scares. Save for one scene, the rest of the proceedings because monotonous and dull. The typical horror tropes abound, and the film becomes monotonous. Also, Joel McHale? Skip it"
98 75% Confessions (2010) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
"A brilliant study of violence and its repercussions for all involved. Confessions is a fascinating, unpredictable, and wonderfully satisfying. Featuring amazing performances from the entire cast, an effective soundtrack, and some truly shocking twists. An underrated, overlooked, and it demands to be seen. I absolutely loved it."
89 45% Gone Girl (2014) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
"Gone Girl may not rank among Fincher's best films, but even lesser Fincher is better than half the crap released these days. Still, this is a flawlessly constructed film and a very faithful adaptation of the novel. Ben Affleck gives the best performance of his career, but its Rosamund Pike who is flat out brilliant. Deliciously dark, darkly funny, and always engrossing. Gone Girl is one of the years best."
94 55% The Departed (2006) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
97 65% Halloween (1978) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
88 35% Lucy (2014) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
"You'll either go with it or not, Lucy remains as preposterous as it is exhilarating. Rarely do we get such unique and wild releases in the mainstream market. And for that alone it's a refreshing experience. It's also consistently exciting, an absolute blast, and a visual feast. Johansson delivers yet another solid performance and kicks ass. Again, Lucy requires the suspension of disbelief, but it's one hell of a crazy, colorful, and relentless actioner."
75 25% Guardians of the Galaxy (2014) - Rated 06 Oct 2014
"The best aspect of Guardians is, despite all the cgi and explosions, the many quiet moments of character interaction. It also features a wonderful performance in Chris Pratt, he's perfect in the role. And I can't imagine anyone else playing the part, kind of like how Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man. Other attributes include a smashing soundtrack featuring David Bowie, Jackson 5, and even Cherry Bomb by The Runaways. Guardians may not fully break the Marvel movie mold, it ranks among the best."
