"David Milch is my favorite creator in all of television, and when people mock cinematic work for being unbearably pretentious and self-fellatingly loquacious I usually take on the role of patient Defender of The Arts... but this show was absolutely atrocious. It's like there was a gas leak...in the writer's room, on set, in the actors' trailers. Everyone suffers from constant unexplained nervous tics and freaks out each episode about some kid who keeps disappearing for a never explained reason."

"Vapid waste of time. Clearly the result of some studio exec's family relation getting an unearned crack at creative distribution... cuz it's SO hard to find talented writers/directors seeking their big chance, am I right???? Whoever funded this should be jailed and banned from film production for life."

"It is not an overstatement that this studio has created a fully living world with this masterpiece about resourcefulness, ecology, and spirit. Eons of evolution are manifested here from the minds of these artists, and the human characters cast down onto that planet are just as well realized. This series is gripping from beginning to end, and the concepts and animation are a pinnacle of the craft."

"A gorgeous and grimdark dreamy backdrop... with some of the worst acting possible and a script that, were it a person, would be diagnosed with advanced dementia. Nothing makes sense in this film, though it would make for amusing ironic backdrop footage during some drug-addled festival event."

"I don't think it could be summed up any better than user NilkyNarfy's "Your stoner uncle's music collection meets your stoner uncle's porno collection...""
78 41% Return to Oz (1985) - Rated 17 Feb 2024
"Immersive film despite being 80s-bad in all the worst ways. The lead actress was outstanding, and the creative elements of the world (aside from the cringeworthy wheel guys) were appealing. Especially impressive was the rock-face minion animations - rivalling any modern special effect in execution or imagination. Convincing motivations unraveled in the last half, very unclear what or why the antagonists were doing what they were doing, and Dorothy's home life ends in an unexplained 180."
