A group of Soviet youngsters arrives in Kazakhstan and builds a sovkhoz in the steppes from the ground up.

A couple travels from their home in the countryside to the big city and realizes the differences in the lifestyle.

Svetlana Sergeevna and Lyubasha carry holiday gifts to builders of hydroelectric power station Komsomolskaya. Their car stays behind the motorcade, and they instead end up in the port city where there is no even the railway. Their only hope to get in time is on the old tugboat "Eaglet" that was the Reds combat vessel back in the days of the russian civil war.
