The detective gives Donald--and his new love, Claire--a short time to find the thieves and clear his name before he takes him in.

After Smoke wins the Blake ranch in a poker game, Blake commits suicide and Smoke deeds the ranch to Blake's young daughter. But the Sheriff is after the ranch and has Smoke arrested for the murder of Blake and then brings in an impostor to pose as the girl's relative.

This sentimental Romberg-Hammerstein operetta was made late in the first cycle of movie musicals, and the glut of product at the time crowded it out at the box office. Which is too bad, because it's excellent of its kind -- well-crafted, well-cast, and in handsome two-tone Technicolor. (imdb)
