Best friends Vishwam (Mohanlal) & Johnny (Lal), struggling to get by in Mumbai with their shady pasts & often under the scrutiny of the cops, kill a man, Damodaran (Siddique), in a mishap. Knowing about Damodaran's whereabouts from a bag he leaves behind, Vishwam feels obligated to help his family & goes to Kerala, & although is rebuffed by Damodaran's headstrong sister Bhanu (Manju Warrier), sticks around. Soon Johnny also follows suit to Kerala, but Vishwam gets concerned about Johnny's ways.

Johnny (Shreyas), a timid young man, gets constantly bullied by his lover Maria's (Madhurima Banerjee) brothers who oppose their relationship. However his life changes when a stranger (Nana Patekar) lands in town whom he befriends & who puts a stop to people bullying Johnny. Johnny tells everyone, including his own family, that the stranger was his long lost brother Sam. Then Johnny learns that the stranger was an ex-con who had served time for rape & murder & he gets worried for his own family.
