Victor Merinow

A letter summons American detective Steve Marshall to Sao Paulo, Brazil, in search of fugitive murderess Louise Dunning. Marshall contacts Louise and learns that she murdered her husband only in self-defense. In the meantime, Marshall is set up as a pawn in a counterfeiting ring (they were the ones who sent him the letter), and unwittingly helps the police capture the criminals. A garimpo, on the Brazil-Bolivia border, is dominated by a man who, surrounded by henchmen, prevents the diamonds from being stolen. With the arrival of an outsider, the men are thinking of running away. He is viewed with suspicion by everyone. A very valuable diamond is found, but it disappears along with the stranger, who is chased.
