Vavachan

Padmanabhan Nair (Jayaram), patriarch of the Vadakkedathu family, who had always kept a tight grip on family matters, starts losing his grip after his younger brother Sasi (Biju Menon) turns rebellious in search of good fortune after befriending upstart Sivan (Siddique). Despite being warned about Sivan's dubious ways, Sasi partners Sivan, including marrying off their sister Ammu (Lena) to him. However, when Sivan's true colors come to light, Sasi repents his string of foolish mistakes.

Focussing on the elderly in India and their insecurity, the story centres around an old couple's endless waiting for their son and his family, who live abroad, to visit them. But the promised visit never materialises; instead the son has decided to sell the family house and put his parents in an old people's home. (BFI)
