On a fateful night aboard the Souparnika Express, ace-shooter Nadiya Methar (Kavya Madhavan) is gruesomely murdered along with renowned danseuse Thulasi Mani (Suja Karthika) and sprightly journalist Shreya Maria (Poornima). The investigation is taken up by the Railway Anti-Criminal Task Force (RACT) headed by Sharafudeen Taramasi (Suresh Gopi), who soon gets busy threading the beads together to unravel the true mystery behind the three homicides. Bhadra Nair (Samyuktha Varma) comes to the village of Sivapuram in Tamil Nadu, the birth place of her dad Madhavan Nair (Laxmi Rattan), along with her family. There, she starts learning classical music with Ramanuja Shastrikal (Biju Menon) & falls in love with him, but separates with him after opposition from her family. Years later, Bhadra is unhappily married to Chandran (Lal), a computer engineer & alcholic. Bhadra finds solace in poetry & memories of the Sivapuram days.

Three friends, Devi (Manya), Simi (Karthika) & Meenakshi (Kavya Madhavan), gets kicked out from college for stealing question papers. With no place to go, Simi's boyfriend Chackochan (Vineeth Kumar) seeks the help of an old friend Vinod. Vinod promises to take them to the hill station of Nelliampathi for a getaway. En route, their bus gets in an accident & they try to seek shelter at a desolated mansion. An unruly wayfarer, Raghuram (Mammootty), joins them & starts to get on their nerves.

Daniel Thompson aka Dany (Mammootty), a saxophone player, marries & sires a girl child, but his wife elopes afterward to reunite with her lover. Dany finds solace in music, but is coaxed by a rich man Chavaro (Sreekumar) to marry his pregnant daughter Margaret (Vani Viswanath), whose lover had died. Margaret treats him like a wuss, denies physical intimacy & in his old age, Dany gets dumped in a nursing home. There, Dany meets Bhargavi (Mallika Sarabhai), a kindred soul & they make a connection.

Hari (Vineeth) travels to Varanasi after his M.Phil. to do research in North Indian folk arts, where circumstances force him to shelter a girl Amritha (Kavya Madhavan) from evil gangster Kishanchand (Suresh Krishna). Kishanchand catches up with them, brutally assaults Hari & takes Amritha away. Hari returns to Kerala, but has to spurn his childhood cousin/lover Devu (Navya Nair) as he had slept with Amritha. A devastated Devu commits suicide & Hari returns to Varanasi & seeks solace in drugs.

Sivankutty (Suraaj Venjarammoodu), neck deep in debt & without a job, accidentally switch places with his lookalike Jeevan Raj (Suraaj Venjarammoodu) after he tries to save Jeevan from an accident. Seeing that Jeevan was a millionaire, Sivankutty tries to stick on as Jeevan in Jeevan's house, with the intention of finagling enough money to pay off his debts. Jeevan, meanwhile gets stuck in Sivankutty's house.

Anupama (Manju Warrier), born into a wealthy family, leaves everything to marry Rajeevan (Jayaram) despite her family's stiff opposition. Later they have twin boys, but Rajeevan gives up one child to childless couple Venugopal (Murali) & Devi (Urmila Unni), without Anupama's knowledge, after Devi had had her 4th miscarriage. However, overcome with guilt, Rajeevan confides to Anupama, but a livid Anupama leaves home & gives Rajeevan an ultimatum to only come see her after getting her baby back.

After a few years after his wife Sumitra's death by falling off a train, rich businessman Balachandran (Suresh Gopi) marries Seethalakshmi (Sriranjini) & brings her to his mansion & tea estate. Trouble begins when a human skeleton is found in the estate from an abandoned well, & is identified to be that of Sumitra, shot dead by a bullet wound. Suspicion falls on Balachandran & sharp-minded cop Mohammed Kutty (Siddique) investigates.

Gouri (Kavya Madhavan) & Shankaran (Munna) were friends & lovers from childhood. Shankaran's orthodox Brahmin family, who were snake worshipers, had a custom where the eldest daughter-in-law would practice celibacy & become the "snake mother", a deity. Despite knowing that she would be next in line after Shankaran's mother's demise, Gouri marries Shankaran, but their joy is short-lived when shortly afterwards, Shankaran's mother, the current "snake mother", dies, forcing Gouri to fill the shoes.

Gentleman Vijay (Kunchako Boban) finds an unlikely friend in the form of troublemaker Ajith (Dileep), & they become thick pals. Later Vijay learns that the girl whom he had been wooing was Ajith's sister Geethu (Kavya Madhavan), but he goes ahead with the relationship anyway. But when Vijay learns of Ajith's past which was traumatized by the betrayal of his other sister who had eloped with her lover on her wedding day, he sets aside his feelings for Geethu so as not to hurt Ajith again.

Ravi (Suresh Gopi), a famous theater artist, returns home after 30 long years, to find his mother (Shweta Menon) hospitalized in a coma, following some terminal illness. Enmeshed in an array of guilt & deep regrets of having deserted her, Ravi tries to make up by being with her everyday in the hospital, neglecting his career & even his girlfriend Paayal (Padmapriya).

D.I.G. Mohan Shankar (Suresh Gopi), forced to deliver the ransom money for a hostage, Hema (Sarayu), the daughter of businessman Satharam (Shanawas), was in for a rude shock when he loses the money, is beaten up & the hostage killed. Retreating from the limelight, Mohan goes to the coastal town of Kanyakumari to continue his stalled research. But he runs into his old enemies there again, but before he could nab them using the force of the law, they strangely started getting killed one by one.

Unnikrishnan (Vinu Mohan) is just out jail, having served a sentence of 12 years, & is looking for revenge. The men who had conspired to destroy his family & his life & put him behind bars - D.I.G. Somasundaram, DySP Narayanan (Kollam Ajith), S.I. Rajan (Santhosh) & lawyer Chandradas (Kalasala Babu) - were still roaming free, & he starts knocking them off, one by one. Aiding Unnikrishnan in his mission was smuggler Masthan (Shankar), his old jail cellmate & himself an enemy of the coterie.

Kochubaby (Sreenivasan), a blind candlemaker, falls in love with and marries Mary (Sharbani Mukherji), his blind coworker, but Mary dies in an accident soon after giving birth to a girl child. Kochubaby brings up the child, Lillykutty, alone, but in her teens, she (Shafna) too is diagnosed with a degenerative eye disease, & slated to lose her eyesight soon. Saddened, Kochubaby tries to mentally prepare his daughter for the impending life of darkness.

A hodgepodge of characters descend at a communal wedding, each with a selfish motive - Krish (Kunchacko Boban), the dishonest son of an honest father, out to spoil his proposed wedding to an upright girl, Antappan (Biju Menon), the criminal, looking to loot the gold set aside for the couples, Jyothish Kumar (Jayasurya), the effeminate classical dancer, looking to marry a girl after repeated snubs by girls - and chaos ensue.

3 ex-convicts, Vishnu (Kunchacko Boban), Pappan (Prathap K. Pothan) & Louis (Biju Menon), after getting out of jail, starts a children's' daycare with the help of Dr. Isaac (Narain), who had counseled them in prison. Later, they agree to "kidnap" Isaac's son, with Isaac's permission, to thwart a divorce lawsuit brought on by Isaac's wife, but later realize that the boy didn't belong to Isaac & that he was using them to kidnap someone else's son.

Calcutta-raised Seelabathi (Kavya Madhavan) goes with her mom Sumangala (Urmila Unni) to visit her grandparents at Tathamangalam, Palakkad, while she waited for her exam results. Being a computer science student, she joins the local school as a temp computer teacher. As she adapts to the village life, she watches in alarm as its serenity is disturbed by the invasion of modernization, resulting in acute water shortage & disappearances of her girl students, who end up getting raped or killed.

Jayanthan Namboothiri (Maniyanpilla Raju), a 43-year old Hindu Brahmin priest who was living a dejected life because he was not able to get a bride, finally strikes gold when 18-year old Sanmaya (Tanushree Raghuram) says yes to him. But soon happiness turns into frustration when Jayanthan discovers that Sanmaya has a morbid fear of intimacy, rooted in the sexual abuse she suffered at the hands of her own brother Balu (Ankit Madhav), & his subsequent suicide.

M.L.A. Divakaran (Jayaram), an honest politician & a communist who works for the people, ruffles the feathers of a group of corrupt leaders of his party - Bharghavan (Vijayaraghavan), Komalan (Kalabhavan Mani), Sachidanandan (T.S. Raju) & Gopalji (Saikumar) - who seeks to marginalize & destroy Divakaran.

A first-time movie director, Kishore Kumar (Maqbool Salmaan), gets conned into making a screenplay into a movie, which turns out to be the frame-by-frame copy of a Korean movie. Shortly after Kishore's movie becomes a success, the director of the Korean movie approaches him & demands 5 crores in payment within 15 days.
