Tradita takes place in 1915, at a time when Austria, Germany and Italy were supposed to be allied. In Austria however the Italian community was a house divided. Some of them refused to fight for Franz-Joseph and wanted to support France and England instead. In this story, two Italian brothers are pitted against each other not only for the reasons expressed above but also because they love the same girl, Anna, the niece of an Austrian lieutenant.
