19-year old Kannan (Sangeeth), who lives with his family in Trivandrum, comes with his mother (Srividya) to their ancestral home of Koyikkal, during a vacation, where all of their family planned to have a get-together. There, he reunites with his cousin & childhood playmate, 16-year old Radhika (Sonia), who had come to dance at the family temple & who was all set to go to USA to join her family. Kannan falls in love with Radhika & tries to woo her, with not so good side-effects.

Manu (Mammootty), an M.A., L.L.B., B.Tech Electronics graduate & scientist researching in Astronomy, tries to cope with his DSP father's (M.G. Soman) death, while the inquisitive quintet consisting of his neighbor's kids Danny aka Lothar (Kuriyachan), Danny's younger brother Ikru (Anoop), Manu's nephew Shanku (Sandeep), niece (Sonia) & a vagabond kid Khader (Kareem), who was witness to Manu's father's murder by the hands of a gang of art thieves, goes in search of the killers.

Based on Madhavikutty's novel 'Manomi', with the Sri Lankan Civil War as the backdrop, Tamil poet & radical Thiruchelvam (Suresh Gopi), on the run from the cops, hides out at a house in the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, where he meets Manomi (Mithra Kurian), a Sinhalese girl who tends to his wounds. Manomi falls in love with Thiruchelvam, but he spurns her love to continue his mission. Years later, Thiruchelvam returns to the place, on the run again, this time determined to meet his mother & Manomi.

Ravi Prasad (Prem Nazir) & his brother Gopan (Ramu) live their lives around their little sister Sindhu (Nalini) who was mute. Ravi marries nurse Prabha (Seema) & they have a baby, but they separate after a misunderstanding. Prabha's evil cousin Natarajan (Raghu), a serial killer, murders Sindhu, with Prabha's son the only witness to the murder. Ravi & Gopan go on a hunt for Natarajan to bring him to justice & while Sindhu's fiancé Balachandran (Mammootty) guards Prabha & her son from Natarajan.

Shivaramakrishnan (Mukesh), a government employee, unsatisfied with his meager salary, & despite stiff opposition from his wife Padmini (Devayani), who also happened to be his boss at work, shirks work & tries to make an extra buck in the form of a pyramid selling scheme, & draws his friend Mukundan (Asokan) also into it. They both lose their shirts in the scheme, but not giving up, they next start a daycare to regain their losses. That too doesn't go as well as they planned.

Happy Days is a college story that explores the lives of eight friends through years of their engineering course. What starts off as a journey of individuals, slowly becomes a collective one as they bond. They bond as they go through bullying seniors, tyrant professors, intense examinations, celebrations, Love, Betrayal, Sacrifice and every possible experience that an individual goes through in a college. And finally they realize their potential.
