Amadeus (1984) is a fictionalized account of the rivalry between Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Antonio Salieri, a court composer in Vienna. Salieri is deeply jealous of Mozart's genius and begins to plot his downfall. He commissions Mozart to write a Requiem, believing it will be his last work. As Mozart's health declines, Salieri becomes increasingly consumed by guilt and despair.
