A contemporary psychological thriller, DERANGED chronicles one night in the life of two men, seemingly thrown together by chance. The story, which takes place in a valley tract house, features Rich Chatam (30's) a high school dropout, Rich is a handsome, misogynistic auto mechanic with a checkered past, and Chris Thorn (30's), an attorney recovering from the recent death of his beloved wife, the death of whom threw Thorn into a state of depression. The night ends in twists, turns, and murder.

On a flight from Los Angeles to Paris a mad scientist (Midkiff), on the run by the CIA, is transporting a coffin containing the body of a colleague infected with a genetically modified virus. While the 747 crosses a violent thunderstorm, the instability of the aircraft allows the corpse to get out of its container.
