Boston Blackie
Blackie, a former prison inmate, campaigns to outlaw Warden Benton's infamous "Water Cross" torture. Benton, however, is successful in his attempt to have Blackie arrested and returned to the prison, but his evil schemes are ultimately thwarted by Blackie's girlfriend, who manages to alert the governor.

When Bob Smith brings in the outlaw Bob Moore he learns his real name is also Bob Smith. With his sister whom he has not seen since childhood arriving, Moore gets Smith to pose as him. Harris Levi ( Fred Warren ) brings up Meg ( Shirley Mason ), who was left in his father's pawnshop by her mother. Anxious that she have a good environment, Harris takes her to live with his friend Robert. When her mother returns to claim Meg, Robert is revealed to be both Meg's father and the man with whom Harris' wife eloped. Meg is happily reunited with her parents and her sweetheart, Chick Saxe.
Winning the Futurity
Chet Kildare, a war profiteer, seeks the hand of Colonel Barkley's daughter, Nelle, though she looks with disfavor upon his undiplomatic advances. Instead, she becomes attracted to Luke Allen, a carefree mountain boy whose strength and spirit impress her. Luke, with the connivance of Uncle Mose, faithful retainer of the Barkleys, saves a baby colt owned by the colonel from being shot, intending to raise it to contend in the Kentucky Futurity.
Desert Valley
Seeing cattle dying of thirst, a stranger shoots a hole in Hoades water pipeline. Hoades is hoarding water trying to drive the ranchers away. Hounded by the law for stealing a pie, the stranger sees a chance to redeem himself by forcing Hoades to sell his pipeline and leave the area.
