Ernie (Jackie Cooper), manager of an apartment house that allows no children, finds himself evicted when his wife, Peg (Meg Randall as Gene Roberts), becomes pregnant. With the help of an imaginary stork and a large department store, he institutes a boycott against the apartment house.

To save expense, Leon Errol decides to get his daughter married. He picks a wealthy young man as the prospective groom, but his daughter's heart is set on somebody else. Leon pushes onward and rents an apartment for his daughter and chosen son-in-law, but his wife Dorothy thinks that he is setting up a love nest for another woman.

When her newlywed husband, Bob, mistakenly follows the diet prescribed for their dog and starts eating grass, Betty calls for a psychiatrist. To complicate their martial-bliss even more, Betty's parents comes for a visit and her father, a retired insurance salesman, forces an unneeded policy on Bob.
