The picture is about a series of comic clashes between Nalla Sivam (Kamal Haasan), a wise-cracking, handicapped communist and Anbarasu (R. Madhavan), an arrogant young advertisement filmmaker, that occur when both happen to get stuck with each other on their problem-filled trip home to Chennai from Bhubaneshwar.

The film depicts an about to retire police commissioner narrating a set of events that happened one day that do not exist in any written records. An unnamed man (Kamal Haasan) places bombs strategically at several places. He calls up Marar (Mohanlal), police commissioner informing about the bombs. He wants to negotiate terms in return for divulging information about the bomb...

Ram (Kamal Haasan) is a playboy pilot. His marriage to Mythili (Simran) disintegrates after a series of misunderstandings. To cheer him up, his buddies arrange for a steamy evening with a prostitute Maggie (Ramya), but things go wrong and the men are stuck with a dead body and a load of diamonds. After having spent his entire life in Bombay's Dharavi slums, Digamber feels it is time that he takes steps to improve his lifestyle. He, along with two other slum-dwellers, plot to kidnap the only son (Shravan) of a wealthy businessman, Kishore Mehta. Things do not go as planned as one of their partners gets hospitalized when he gets a reaction from locally brewed alcohol.
