Following the death of Queen Elizabeth II, an eagerly awaiting Prince Charles is crowned King. However, he finds that the role of the monarch in contemporary Britain isn't quite what he was prepared for, finding himself at odds with Parliament and his Prime Minister. When he refuses to sign a controversial bill into law, political chaos and royal manoeuvring ensue amid the resulting constitutional crisis.
