"Love Live Sunshine" is set in another school, the ocean-side Uranohoshi Girls' Academy, which is passing by the same peril as Otonokizaka Academy used to, until Chika Takami decides to follow their example and gathers friends to form another group called "Aqours" for the sake of their school as well.

Yukishiro Nanako is a cute, cheerful high school girl with one peculiar trait - instead of verbal communication, she writes senryu (a type of haiku) poems to relay her thoughts. Together with ex-delinquent Busujima Eiji, they are budding freshmen of the school's Literature Club. Even though Nanako doesn't talk, with the power of senryu, the adorable pair has no problem enjoying their fun school-life through the tune of 5-7-5 syllables. (imdb)

Aqours faces a double crisis. Their school merges, forcing them to find a new practice space. The new school sends them to a rundown branch, believing them to be detrimental to their current clubs. Determined to change this view, Aqours sets out on a mission. But their efforts are complicated when their third-year members mysteriously vanish on their graduation trip. Aqours must fight for their place while searching for their missing seniors.

The story reimagines Yoshiko Tsushima, the school idol afflicted with chuunibyou, as a magical girl. The story is set in Numazu, a scenic harbor town surrounded by the sea and mountains. Ever since she was little, the girl Yohane has never fit in, and has always felt apart from everyone in town. Her aspirations and true place in this world lie elsewhere.
