After getting infected by her promiscuous husband & getting diagnosed as HIV+, Aparna Verma (Nandita Das) separates from him & goes to an asylum for AIDS patients, 'Jeevan Jyothi', run by Dr. Machado (Anupam Kher), as a volunteer.
