Reghu

Shyam (Reghu), who leaves his house after his father re-marries after his mother's death, reaches a mountainside village in search of his uncle Shankunni (Manavalan Joseph). There, he gets a job of driving the horse-cart of local bigwig & womanizer Thampurankutty (Mohanlal). Shyam falls in love with Shankunni's best friend Ganapathi Iyer's (Adoor Bhasi) daughter Meenu (Rohini). As their marriage got fixed, Thampurankutty's eyes fall on Meenu & he tries to get Meenu for himself.

Dr. Selvam joins Saktivel college with the joint responsibility of History professor and Vice Principal. Seeing that the college is under the grips of Ramesh (Reghu), son of dreaded politico Veluchamy & their goons, Selvam fights back. Meanwhile, English professor Vasanthi (Gautami) develops a soft corner for Selvam.

Shekara Menon (M.G. Soman), a retd. army major finds & rescues Sivan (Mammootty), a cabby, whom his passengers had called for a trip to Ooty, but left for dead after hijacking his car. Sivan stays on in town to get his car back & helps Menon with his poultry business. Seeing that the town is terrorized by mobster Rangan (Raja), Sivan tries to unite the townsfolk to oppose Rangan. Rangan reacts by harming Sivan's friends & Menon's family & Sivan is forced into a do-or-die battle with Rangan.

Businessman Vishwanatha Menon (M.G. Soman), his wife Padmavathi (Jayabharathi) & Padmavathi's niece Nimmy (Karthika) come to Kodaikanal for a month's vacation, where they meet & befriend orphan guide Raju (Mohanlal). Nimmy feels a closeness to Raju, but their friendship doesn't bode well with Menon's son & Nimmy's beau Vinod (Suresh Gopi), who tries to keep them apart.
