John Vaseegaran (Vaseegaran), a young business magnate & one of India's richest men, also happens to be a kleptomaniac, who steals an expensive diamond during an expo, bringing suspicion on Vidya Sadagopan (Priyamani), the girl who was in charge of the diamond during the expo. To prove herself innocent, Vidya takes up a job as Vaseegaran's secretary, to retrieve the diamond. Vaseegaran, who was obsessed with the story of Cinderella from his childhood, starts seeing his Cinderella, in Vidya.

Sunita (Asha Parekh) who goes to Mussoorie with her college hockey team, is also determined to avenge the death of her sister Rupa. Rupa had apparently committed suicide when she was rejected by her lover Rocky (Shammi Kapoor), a drummer in the hotel's jazz band. Rocky meets her and, wise to her intentions, disguises his identity. The two fall in love. The story takes a twist when the police realize that Rupa was actually murdered.

Two friends from the city with contrasting beliefs about love take their annual holiday in the country. One is a "love 'em and leave 'em" philanderer, the other is waiting for Miss Right. Whilst Gopal (Premnath) callously uses and then discards Neela (Nimmi), the sensitive Pran (Raj Kapoor) finds the love of his life when he meets Reshma (Nargis).
