In a North German Boarding School for Boys, one Pupil, Kurrat, suddenly vanishes one night without informing anybody. Soon, the Police under the aegis of Inspector Klevenow has to learn that Kurrat was a very mysterious, intelligent but also rude person, adored by his roommates, desired by the girls, hated by most of the teachers but obviously passionately loved by one of them.
