In the 1980s, a journalist decides to discover the whereabouts of Dulce Veiga, an actress and singer who disappeared mysteriously in the 1960s. What he does not know is how much will have to find out about himself. In this quest, through Brazil, Rio de Janeiro to the Amazon rainforest, he becomes increasingly obsessed with the intriguing personality of the daughter of Dulce, a famous rock star lesbian.

A clumsy angel is sent away from heaven by God Himself. He may only return after he becomes a good Cupid. But the first couple he tries to connect is a real challenge: the man is poor, and the girl comes from a rich family. And their names are Romeu and Julieta. (imdb)

This is a comedy; a double satire of Brazilian soap operas and at the same time, about "savage capitalism" in 1990's Brazil where the Amazon jungle is exploited, while killing Indians and appropriating the land of its few surviving owners

Inspired by the painting "First Mass in Brazil" by Victor Meirelles, the story revolves around a group of filmmakers trying to rebuild a milestone in the history of Brazil: the staging of the first mass in the country.
