What can one man do against the most lethal army on earth?

A princess is tricked by an evil count to set out to find the Christmas Star, and subsequently goes missing. The king curses the star for his loss, and the star never again returns to the land, taking the queen with it. Twelve years later, the king continues his efforts to rediscover the star that he sent away, hoping to regain the queen and princess.

The story concerns Edevart (Trond Peter Stamso Munch), a young man who is learning about life and his place in it. He at first takes up with August (Helge Jordal), a charming trader who is at least half con-man. After trailing along with him for a while, he decides that August is not a man he wants to model his life after. He becomes acquainted with and falls in love with Lovise Margrete (Marika Lagercrantz) a woman living alone on a sheep farm. (allmovie.com)
