After his usual stay behind bars, Egon has another cunning plan involving millions. They rob over 4 million from a money transport. The gang keeps a low profile and hide the money. But it's stolen by "Kongen" and "Knægten", who immediately start living it up. The gang once again is in trouble.

Egon and the gang are hired to stage a robbery of an antique Chinese vase for an economically challenged baron. Naturally they fooled, which infuriates Egon. The gang tries to get back at the baron by switching the vase with a cheap Hong Kong copy. One attempt is made during the barons hunting party, where Egon ends up being bricked up in the catacombs. In another attempt, the gang has to coordinate breaking through several walls at The Royal Theater in Copenhagen with the "Elverhøj" overture.

Egon is starting to be a little forgetful; he forgot the zone number, so he fails to open the strongbox. When he gets out of Vridslose State Prison, Kjeld and Benny have become associates of Yvonne's cousin Georg from America. He is not just some old-fashioned strongbox thief that can't remember like Egon, but a young hip IT criminal, that thinks that everyone else is inferior.

For once Egon is released from prison without a plan. Luckily Benny has a plan which Egon messes up in order to get thrown back in jail. This lets him get the information he needs for his next brilliant plan. The gang steal the plans for Daisy-Land, a plot to turn Denmark into a recreational area for the rest of Europe.

After his anual stay at Vridlose State Prison, Egon Olsen is back with a new plan. This includes braking into EU headquarters in Bruxelles, Belgium and even kidnapping a tank! (E.C. Hermsdorf)

As usual, Egon has an ingenious plan. And, as usual, it works just fine until one of the gang members makes some kind of funny error. This is the last of the two-part finale of the Olsen Banden series (apart from the 1998 revival). Egon comes up with one brilliant plan after another to get the red suitcase in an attempt to assure world peace (and get the millions). This takes Egon and the gang to Paris, where they raise havoc at Maxim's by replacing the Sauce Imperial with traditional Danish gravy. Martha is a very old and very rusty freight steamer, sailing in the Mediterranean, almost forgotten by the danish shipping line. The crew takes advantage of this, leading a very comfortable and luxurious life on board. Not without financial problems though. The ship's owner is a very old school and disciplined person and certainly not satisfied with the state of the ship and the crew. But the crew shows their worth when they have to fight for the survival of their beloved old steamer.

The film presents the general background of the Skagen Painters and everything that attracted them to gather in Skagen but it is P.S. Krøyer (Stellan Skarsgård) who is the centre of attraction. It shows how he inspires the other painters to create ever better paintings while his wife Marie is considered to be the most beautiful woman in Denmark.
