An average intelligent young man from an average middle-class family in Belgrade gets hit on the head by his girlfriend after cheating on her. After that, his general mentality and tone changes, becomes more aggressive, careless and generally confusing to his old friends and family.

Joze Malek (Polde Bibic), who was drafted in into the German army, and from there escaped to the Russian army, returns home to his wife and children. As a farm worker, he is given some land to cultivate, but the same authority which gave him the land, takes it back. This short-lived ownership changes Joze, he starts to act with more confidence. He becomes a socialist kulak.

Doctor Janez, a somewhat elderly lawyer, tired of urban life, pays a few week's visit to his relative Presecnik, a well-off farmer living in highland village.
