The basis of the story is the small bear's relationship with another young animal, a walrus. The two become close friends, to the chagrin of their elders. The two societies do not mix (while it never directly says so, it is, of course, known that polar bears prey on walruses). Lovers Mike and Susan are on the run after a jewelry store heist. They make it to a local butcher shop and desperately stash their loot inside a goose carcass. However, the bird gets sold before the pair have a chance to safely retrieve the jewels, leading them on a (ahem) wild goose chase to locate the purchaser.
