Manavalan Joseph

Shyam (Reghu), who leaves his house after his father re-marries after his mother's death, reaches a mountainside village in search of his uncle Shankunni (Manavalan Joseph). There, he gets a job of driving the horse-cart of local bigwig & womanizer Thampurankutty (Mohanlal). Shyam falls in love with Shankunni's best friend Ganapathi Iyer's (Adoor Bhasi) daughter Meenu (Rohini). As their marriage got fixed, Thampurankutty's eyes fall on Meenu & he tries to get Meenu for himself.

Rajalakshmi (Shubha) jilts her lover Chandra Mohan (Sukumaran) after learning that he was poor & marries rich businessman Krishna Das (K.P. Ummer). However, when a windfall makes Mohan even richer, Rajalakshmi turns back towards him. Mohan, knowing Rajalakshmi's intentions, feigns love so as to get close to Das's niece Valsala, who was staying at Das's house as a domestic help. Mohan ends up marrying Valsala, much to Rajalakshmi's chagrin, but she doesn't let go & plots to separate them.

Annie (Madhavi), a telephone operator in a firm, marries Tony Francis (Mammootty), whom she thought to be a rich man, but who later turned out to be broke. Saddened, but not leaving her man, Annie & Tony start anew, but after Annie is raped by her boss Daniel (Mohanlal) & Daniel is killed by Tony in an ensuing fight, they get frustrated with the ways of the world & turn con artists. Cop Prem Narayan (Captain Raju) suspects them of Daniel's murder & some recent con jobs & gets on their tail.

Kaveri (Pramila), who runs a tea stall in a remote village seeks out a new lover in vagabond hunter Maruthu (Nedumudi Venu) to accept the paternity of her illicit pregnancy. Meanwhile, a circus comes to the village & Maruthu finds a job there, after he gets enamored with Sundari (Suchitra), the lead female acrobat of the troupe, irking Kaveri. Maruthu ends up going back to Kaveri & quarrels with the troupe, after which Maruthu plays a prank on the troupe which goes awry, destroying the circus.

Shiva Subramaniam (Manian Pillai Raju), a Brahmin youth, ordained to take up priesthood at his family temple at the age of 21, is smitten with Rohini (Lizy), the actress of a local drama troupe run by Keerikkadu Chellappan Pillai (Nedumudi Venu). To get close to Rohini, Subramaniam joins the troupe & pretends to be rich. Meanwhile, Pillai & the troupe members mistake Rohini of having an affair with the super-rich businessman Suresh Menon (Shankar) & makes plans to exploit the situation.
