When the story begins, James is confronted by his wife for his roving eyes! Soon after this, he goes to a speakeasy and begins chatting up women. One in particular catches his eye and so he brings her home to meet the wife. And here's where it gets weird. Apparently the Gleasons have an agreement that if either meets another person and falls for them, the marriage will be amicably dissolved and they'll each go their separate ways!

The short plays more like a film....just very condensed. It begins with the Mustangs in trouble in their championship series...all the players are banged up and they're being clobbered. But a sports reporter (Eugene Pallette) insists that his nephew, Minor, can really play ball and will help the team win.

"Girl of the Rio" is a 1932 American Pre-Code RKO musical film starred Dolores del Río and Leo Carrillo. Directed by Herbert Brenon, the screenplay was written by Elizabeth Meehan and Louis Stevens, based on the play "The Dove by Willard Mack," which was itself based on a magazine article by Gerald Beaumont. The film is a remake of the 1927 silent film "The Dove," starring Norma Talmadge.
