Attorney Richard Randall has been doing a speaking tour in which he denounces post-World War I food profiteers. This is dangerous business, as one of the worst profiteers, Everett Dearing , is determined to stop him. Dearing enlists the help of lounge lizard Tony Terle to maneuver Randall's wife Beverley into a compromising position. She is taken to a roadhouse, photographs are taken, and Dearing threatens to publish the pictures if Randall doesn't shut up.

A young man impersonates his best friend, and in doing so upsets the decorum at a stuffy family gathering and falls in love. The arrival of a gang of hoodlums further disrupts the formalities, but our hero thwarts them and saves the day.
