During the French Revolution, the Duke and Duchess of Bérac are captured by a mob. The Duchess agrees to marry one of their leaders in order to save her husband's life. Wilfred of Ivanhoe, son of Sir Cedric, returns to England from the Crusades in the Holy Land.
