Lao Shen

Hsiao plays Fong Sai Yuk, a troublemaking teenager with great kung fu. After continually getting into trouble at school for messing with a Manchu official, Fong and his brothers are sent to Mater San Te (Gordon Liu) and the Shaolin Monks to hide. Eventually Fong leaves the temple to fight the Manchus.

The last in a line of famous martial artists turns to robbery and kidnapping to acquire a manual for building guns in this wuxia/spy hybrid.

A murderous psychopath is carving up the prostitutes at a ritzy Hong Kong brothel, and as the madam watches her stable dwindle by the day, suspicions soon fall on a recently-released asylum inmate who had previously been imprisoned for a strikingly similar crime.

This is one of writer/director Shen Chiang's last films, but it's an incredible action-packed adventure of a female Lone Ranger, decades before Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon made feminist-empowerment kung-fu films an international phenomenon. Think "City Lights" with a Mandarin twist. This unique Chaplinesque tale of two misfits in love stars Teddy Robin Kwan, a handicapped comic actor and already popular rock star whose talent more than makes up for his physical limitations. There's laughter and tears in this, his first film, as he comes to the aid of a blind waif, eventually delighting her (and the audience) with the songs he created especially for the film. Teenage heart throbs Ching Li and Paul Chin Pei come across like Annette Funicello and Frankie Avalon in the musical Sunset, a musical romp that plays similar to one of Hollywood's famous "Beach Party" movies. A car load of girls meets a car load of boys and Ching and Paul ultimately fall in love. In the vein of "Romeo And Juliet", Hong Kong style, the small ensemble cast and little-known director Michihko do a big league job with their rendition of "Romeo And Juliet" in "The Young Lovers". Although poor boy (Derek Erh Tung-Sheng) and rich girl (Yu An-An) are from opposite ends of the spectrum, their undying love refuses to let anyone get in their way, including their parents. Jenny Wu is a singer who charms the well-to-do Peter Chen, but his parents object to a union between their only son and a lowly cabaret singer. He ignores their advice and marries her anyway, and for a time, they find some manner of wedded bliss. But the years are not entirely kind. He works hard to make ends meet, but his health pays the price.

Emperor Chien Lung uses disguises to experience life among his subjects.

A young girl runs away from her abusive father to join a group of circus performances, expecting that one day she will be the greatest trapeze artist. Later, she falls in love with one of the members of the circus staff who used to be a trapeze performer in previous times.

The two lead roles (Liang Tien & Chang Ying) are in competition (never really explained why), teaching people lessons (including each other), but when the going gets tough, they join forces.
