The movie is the story of the two quarreling families, which after the end of the Second World War were resettled from Kresy to the Regained Territories, after Poland's borders were shifted westwards.

Olga Jazykowa is an actress and left her family trying to make a great career, but can not get an important role. Plays in a small theater and feel that life begins to wither. Kazimierz Pawlak, Wladyslaw Kargul and their granddaughter Ania are coming to America, to meet Kazimierz's brother John. When they come, they hear that John is dead.
